Join us for a full day focusing on language acquisition for a new generation of learners. Students today are always connected and communicate regularly through established social networks. We'll look at opportunities to engage them using the networks and tools they are already using. Our focus is to connect students with each other, as well as the themes and target culture they are studying using social technologies as the medium for communicating.
Participants will work hands-on becoming more deeply familiar with some of Google's applications, Facebook, and others. Presentations from colleagues including best practices in intergrating social media and lessons learned will guide participants to create successful and engaging activities for 21st century learners.
NOTE:Prior to the workshop, choose a theme you would like to use as the focus for activities that you will design. This will help in narrowing your search for media during activity creation time.

These activities offer a means for your students to demonstrate what they know and can do in the target language. Experience ways students can interact with each other and integrate their personal interests in the target culture through building content collaboratively in the target language. We'll focus on content development using tools such as blogger, google forms, and google presentation, to name a few. |

Learn from the experience of a colleague how students used and feel about using their personal social network space for sharing and inquiry related to language course content. Create at least one video-based activity with which students can interact either through a social network or embedded in your course site.
