Auctions Beginning Saturday, Sept. 25, the Pride of Oshkosh lions will be auctioned off at three separate events
These rules and conditions apply to the auctions during The “Mane” Event on September 25, 2004 at the Grand Opera House and The Lion Ball on October 16, 2004 at the Paine Art Center and Gardens. By bidding in the auctions, a person fully accepts these rules and conditions of sale. The following lions will be auctioned at The “Mane” Event on Sept. 25th: The following lions will be auctioned at The Lion Ball on October 16th: The lion auctions are reserve auctions. The reserve is the lowest price at which The Pride of Oshkosh is willing to sell a particular lion. The reserve price is confidential and is generally higher than the minimum opening bid. In order to win the auction, a bidder must meet or exceed the reserve price and have the highest bid. If no bidders meet the reserve price, neither The Pride of Oshkosh nor the high bidder are under any further obligation to complete the transaction. All sales are subject to Wisconsin sales tax. The purchase of a lion may qualify for a tax deduction. The portion of the winning bid which exceeds the fair market value of the goods received, may be considered a contribution to The Pride of Oshkosh and considered deductible under the provisions in the United States Internal Revenue Code Section 170. Please consult your tax advisor. Winning buyers are responsible for picking up the lions. The lions may be taken immediately after the auctions. Lions sold on September 25 may be picked up between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 from the Grand. Afterward, all lions will be transferred to the Paine Art Center and Gardens, and they may be picked up by purchasers during business hours. A winning bid must be paid in full on the day of the auction, regardless of when the lion is picked up. Buyers must pay full purchase price by cash, check made out to The Pride of Oshkosh, or by Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit card. Lions will be sold “as is, where is” with no guarantee, warranty or representation of any kind. Buyers shall rely entirely on their own inspection and information. Every effort will be made to “guard” the lions throughout and after the auction. However, you become solely responsible for a lion that you purchase immediately following your winning bid. Therefore you are advised to further guard your lion at your own discretion. All bids are binding. Bidders are responsible for knowing which lion they are bidding on. If you are unsure, you should enquire or not bid. When you become the winning bidder at auction, you have affected a contract and will be expected to pay for the lion in which you were evidenced to be the successful bidder. Auctioneer will not honor “mistakes.” The auctioneer reserves the right to accept bids in any increment he feels is in the best interest of The Pride of Oshkosh. If the auctioneer determines that any final bid does not meet reserve prices, he may reject the same and withdraw the article from sale. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder for any reason or no reason. To enter a bid, raise your hand, attracting the attention of either the auctioneer or one of the spotters, whose job it is to relay bids to the auctioneer. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. Absentee bids will also be accepted. Click here to find out about Absentee Bid Guidelines and to fill out a form.
