Individual counseling (academic, personal). Intern is responsible for meeting students new to MHS on an individual basis; SAP group co-facilitation; Career planning/exploration, e.g. use of WisCareers; Attendance at At-Risk Committee Meetings, department meetings, counselor-administration meetings, faculty meetings; Attendance/participation in the IEP process; Junior conferences ("Jay Talks", spring); Test administration/interpretation, i.e. PLAN, PSAT, WKCE; Consultation with student services personnel, teachers, parents regarding student progress; Development and implementation of a classroom presentation; Depression screening (fall); Professional development workshops/seminars as offered.
Grades 9-12. Approximately 20% minority, 40% free or reduced lunch.
Previous use of individual and small-group counseling skills helpful but not required; Strong desire to work with high school students upon licensure; Desire to have cross-cultural counseling experiences.
