The ESTEEM program will provide hands-on laboratory experiences in a university setting to engage students and increase their interest in the science, technology, math and engineering fields. Students will have access to the same state-of-the-art facilities and equipment UW Oshkosh students and faculty use.
The following summer courses will be offered in the 2012 ESTEEM Program: Aquatic Lab on the River Water/Beach, Website Design, Meteorology, Pre-Engineering (electrical), Quail Embryo Development, CSI: Chemistry, Multicultural Awareness, Mathematics, English/Writing and Speech Communication. Workshops in financial aid, Admissions college preparatory and exploring career options will be offered this summer.
ESTEEM students also participate in recreational activities such as bowling, roller-skating, basketball, swimming, volleyball and team leadership building, as well as participate in a motivational workshop.
In collaboration with the UW Oshkosh Science Outreach Office, the 2011 summer programs participants are invited back for a spring campus visit in 2012 to further support and encourage students to pursue a post-secondary education.
