Aspiring Pupils for Professional Leadership in Education Program (APPLE)

Grades 8, 9, 10
The APPLE program provides academic and professional development courses and activities to help students prepare for teaching majors in college.
The following summer courses will be offered in the 2012 APPLE Program: Teaching as a Profession: Legal & Ethical Aspects, Current Trends & Issues in Education, Special Education, Childhood Adolescent Development, Education & Diverse Populations, Educational Psychology, Measurements & Evaluation in Education, Multicultural Awareness, Mathematics and Reading/Writing and Speech Communication. Workshops in financial aid, Admissions college preparatory and exploring career options will be offered this summer.
APPLE students also participate in recreational activities such as bowling, roller-skating, basketball, swimming and volleyball, as well as participate in a motivational workshop.
In collaboration with the UW Oshkosh College of Education and Human Services, the 2011 summer programs participants are invited back for a spring campus visit in 2012 to further support and encourage students to pursue a postsecondary education.
