Opportunities
We provide our students with the tools to analyze and understand the history, key ideas, and recurrent patterns of politics, to empower them to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
This commitment extends well beyond our courses to internships, study abroad opportunities, an active political science student association and advisement, including the University's official pre-law advisement.
Scholarship Opportunity
The Political Science department is pleased to announce its second annual academic scholarship, which will provide $500 to a Political Science major with senior status in 2013-14. The award will be based on a combination of superior performance in coursework across subfields in the major (American politics, political theory, comparative politics, and international relations), demonstration of financial need, and an application statement.
Applicants need not have demonstrated financial need to win, but demonstration of need is a factor in an applicant’s favor.
Please submit the following materials to Angelee Hammond in the Political Science Department’s office by March 1, 2013. You may submit application materials electronically (hammond@uwosh.edu):
1. a transcript (it need not be official)
2. any documentation confirming eligibility and receipt of any need-based grant (e.g. Federal Pell Grant, Wisconsin Higher Education Grant (WHEG), Wisconsin Tuition Grant (WTG), Talent Incentive Program (TIP) or other need-based program)
3. a statement of 500 words or less which describes how your experience in the major has enhanced your abilities in our identified learning goals, which can be found on our website at: http://www.uwosh.edu/political_science/information-for-students/student-learning-goals
We will announce the scholarship winner by March 25th and award the scholarship at our end of year Awards Banquet.
