Why Political Science?

Politics impacts nearly everything you do or experience, from the food you eat, to the tuition you pay, to the price of gas at the pump.  Politics decides “who gets what, when and how” and what values are treated as authoritative.  By learning about politics our students gain vital knowledge about how the world works, all the way from their city or town to the global community.

The study of Political Science emphasizes analysis, research and writing skills applicable to virtually every situation in life.  Our students develop leadership and management skills and have many opportunities for internships with elected officials, political campaigns, and non-governmental groups.  As a result, our students are well trained for the job market in a wide variety of fields like law, business, government service, community organization, teaching and journalism.
