Hi Dan. Could you make the URL change so that the site pointed to by

http://plonedev.uwosh.edu/mcnairsscholars

is live at

http://www.uwosh.edu/mcnairscholars (one "s" only)

rather than at

http://www.uwosh.edu/mcnairsscholars

Hi Kim,
If we could take out the extra "s" that would be great. We are still
fairly new on campus so not a lot of people know our website address
yet. I would just change it on all the paperwork.
Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary. If we change the URL to remove the extra s, will
that cause
a problem? Do you want to have two URLs pointing to the
same site
(one with and one without the extra s), or do you want to
leave
everything at the current (extra s) URL?

Hello,
I have checked over the migrated McNair website and it looks
good.
You asked about the extra "s" in the web address. It
actually is
correct but I sure wish we could have the address without the
extra
s. Who ever originally set up the web address added it
in my
mistake and now it seems like we are stuck with it.
Thanks,
Mary

OK, here is the migrated site:

http://plonedev.uwosh.edu/mcnairsscholars

please compare it to your live site at

http://www.uwosh.edu/mcnairsscholars

and let me know if it looks good to you.

By the way, is there a reason for what appears to be the extra
"s" in
the web address? Shouldn't it be

http://www.uwosh.edu/mcnairscholars

?

Thanks for replying so quickly!

Here's all you'll have to do, and you can do it from
your desk:

- I will make a copy of your site on the Plone 3.2
server and
will
give it almost the same URL (instead of "www.uwosh.edu"
it will
be
plonedev.uwosh.edu")

- I would give you, say, a week to look over the new
site so
you can
check that it all looks good. Check every page, to see
if it
anything
looks garbled or if forms (if you have any) still work, etc.

- At the end of that week or when I have your OK, I will
switch> > > > the
URLs so that your normal URL points to the new Plone 3.2 site.

- Your old Plone 3.0 site will be archived for a few
weeks in
case we
missed something.

Hello,
Yes, I can help you with the website. Do I follow the
instructions
on the web address you provided or is this something you
and I
do
together?

Hi Mary - I guess Melissa Giddings wasn't the person to
contact
originally for this (it is her email that is set as
the site
owner).> >
I am upgrading versions of Plone and your site needs
to be
upgraded.
Please see below for details on the process.
Is this
something you
can help me do?

Thanks,

Kim

Hi Melissa - your web site uses Plone version
3.0. I
need to
upgrade it to Plone 3.2 in the near future. Here
is how
I plan to
proceed:

- I will make a copy of your site on the Plone 3.2
server and
will
give it almost the same URL (instead of
"www.uwosh.edu" it
will be
"plonedev.uwosh.edu")

- I would give you, say, a week to look over the new
site so
you can
check that it all looks good.

- At the end of that week or when I have your OK,
I will
switch the
URLs so that your normal URL points to the new Plone
3.2 site.

- Your old Plone 3.0 site will be archived for a few
weeks in
case
we missed something.

Does that seem ok with you?

Kim

PS: I'm cc'ing Brian because he's one of my co-
conspirators on
the
Plone team.
