Kim and John were invited to give an Intranet Project update to the UW Oshkosh Academic Computing Users Group (ACUG).
We outlined our progress to date, since inception of the Intranet pilot project in June 2011, and showed that we have blown the doors off our initial commitment to build and deploy two production workflow applications.
Highlights of our progress:
- We have completed the migration of internal Human Resources information to the Intranet, where all campus internal information will be housed. Internal forms have been completely reorganized with keyword tagging and collections, vastly improving the ease with which employees will be able to locate the forms they need. The new external Human Resources site will be significantly slimmed down and streamlined, making it much easier for prospective employees to locate information they need.
- We developed a series of three workshops on building forms, designing a workflow, and deploying a workflow application. We have been delivering these workshops on demand but will be systematically offering them across all campus.
- We have built or supported the creation of many workflow applications, each of which has accelerated business processing and saved dollars, in some cases a very significant amount: between $15,000 and $100,000. Many units have signed on to use our Intranet tools and Plone to move their processes online.
- Colleges have moved or have agreed to move their intranet onto our campus Intranet platform to take advantage of the latest features and speed of Plone, the Intranet forms and workflow tools, and the new collaborative features of the campus Intranet (including uwosh.meeting and calendar objects and group spaces).
