Related Links portlets
How to add a Related Links portlet
If you look at uwosh.edu/home most pages have a Related Links portlet at the bottom of the right column. That portlet is something you can easily add to your site. It is a static text portlet that you add once you have logged in and have appropriate (Manager/Administrator) permissions and can click on the "Manage portlets" link that appears at the bottom of the left and/or right columns. Add a new portlet by choosing "static text portlet". Give it the title "Related Links". In the body of the portlet, insert a bulleted list, and for each list item add either an internal or external link using the Kupu toolbar icons.
Caveat
Beware that there is a slight issue with how Kupu interprets the links you insert (and this applies to all Kupu-edited content). Because of yet another bug/problem/oversight/insanity with Internet Explorer, Kupu's designers chose to try to have it guess which URLs might be "internal" to your site, even if you specified an absolute URL. It then munges that URL to make it internal. This, however, presents a problem for us at uwosh.edu because Kupu thinks our home page URL is uwosh.edu whereas it is uwosh.edu/home, and so when it munges links it leaves them broken.
The way to get around this is if you have to specify a link to another uwosh.edu site, make sure the base URL is http://uwosh.edu:80 or http://www.uwosh.edu:80 and not http://uwosh.edu and not http://www.uwosh.edu.
The other important thing to do is that when you've saved your Related Links portlet or any other Kupu-edited links you must check that all the links you created really still point to the correct URL.
