Surveys
We can host your surveys
UW Oshkosh has a site license for the Qualtrics service. For information on how to use Qualtrics, please see http://idea.uwosh.edu/learningtech/Qualtrics.html
However, we continue to offer and support our Plone-based surveys, served from campus.
Using Plone and its PloneSurvey module, we can host your surveys. If you are comfortable with a web browser, in a few minutes we can show you how to log into the survey site at http://survey1.uwosh.edu and create your own survey. You can choose to have the survey accept anonymous responses or to require login.
If your survey requires logins, they can be the same logins used by our email servers (ie. all UW Oshkosh student, faculty, staff can use the same username and password they use to read their email), or they can be custom logins created individually for small responder groups or created in batch for larger audiences.
An advantage of using PloneSurvey on our server is that you can create and host relatively confidential surveys, in which you don't necessarily want a 3rd party to host or control the data off site. The Counseling Center survey is one such example.
You can also use SSL encryption to protect the privacy of all survey responses as they are transmitted over the internet. This is particularly important if your survey questions include items of a more confidential nature.
Please note, however, that we cannot host surveys that ask for truly confidential information such as SSNs or items of a sensitive nature that can be related back to a particular identifiable individual. If you have any questions about what sorts of questions are allowable, please contact us.
See here for more information about our Plone survey service.
