Intranets
We can host your intranet
Do you need to share confidential documents or create them in collaboration with a small team? Using Plone you can do exactly that, by designating as private an area of your Plone site and granting read or edit permissions only to specific individuals within that area. This private area effectively becomes an intranet: no one outside that group of individuals will even know it is there, let alone view its contents.
Once such a private area is set up, only if a person has logged in and only if that person is a member of your intranet group will he or she be able to view or edit the shared documents. Your private area can accept all standard content types, including normal web pages, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, or other files you upload from your computer.
In addition to protecting your intranet's contents from unauthorized access, Plone's powerful search engine automatically indexes your intranet's documents and lets only authorized intranet members see search results that point to documents within your intranet. This means that even on an otherwise public Plone site, which your office or department could use to disseminate public information, your intranet's contents remain safe from prying eyes, but you can still use its search engine to quickly locate the information you need.
