How to fix the error "AttributeError: Macro multimediawidget does not exist"

when you're using the uwosh.flash product

If you try to add a new Multimedia object and you get this error:

AttributeError: Macro multimediawidget does not exist [...]

(see way below for the full error stack)

Here is how to fix it.

  • In the ZMI, go to portal_skins
  • Click the Properties tab
  • See which skin is set as the default skin
  • In the list of layers for your default skin (it could be "Plone Default" or it could be "uwosh.themecollege", for example), add the following layers anywhere below "custom":
  • uwosh_flash_flash
    uwosh_flash_js
    uwosh_flash_styles
    uwosh_flash_templates
  • Press the Save button.

You should now be able to add a Multimedia object without getting that error message.
