Project Success Application Process
SUMMER 2009 WISCONSIN/MINNESOTA APPLICANTS
Please note: Summer program capacity is limited to 40 students each summer. As a result, openings fill quickly. The downloadable PDF file available here, describes the procedure used to select the 40 students for each summer's program. Early (AND COMPLETE) application and adherence to deadlines greatly increases an applicant's chances of entering the summer program. Applications received after November 1 of the year before a summer program will in all liklihood be placed on a waiting list. However, in many instances, we are able to offer places in the summer program to people on the waiting list because people on the main list may go to another school or decide not to attend college. Therefore applicants are encouraged to complete application materials even if they arrive at our office after November 1.
SUMMER 2009 NON-RESIDENT APPLICANTS
Special note to non-resident (people who are not residents of Wisconsin or Minnesota) students: Project Success maintains separate listings for resident and nonresident students. If you apply, be sure to mark your application clearly as a non resident student.
APPLICATION PROCESS
You should not apply to Project Success until at least the fall semester of your junior year in high school. Your application will not be considered complete until the following items have been received at our offfice.
You may receive an application for Project Success in either of two ways. You may write to the address shown above or download the form PS Application.pdf
If you download the form, be sure to send your handwritten letter with your application.
Upon receipt of your completed application and accompanying materials, we send your transcript and ACT information to the UW Oshkosh Admission's office to determine if you meet the minimum entrance requirements for UW Oshkosh as outlined below. We also determine if you meet the disability documentation requirements for a learning disability in the area of reading and written language. If you meet the entrance standards for UW Oshkosh and have sufficient documentation of disability, you will be invitied for an on campus interview and testing. This on-campus interview generally occurs during your senior year in high school. Scheduling for an interview early in your senior year helps to ensure a spot in the program.
A suggested outline for the letter is:
Introduce self
I heard about ......
Why you are interested in the Project Success Program
When you return your application, you must supply documentation of your disability. The documentation should be dated within the past three years. If you are still in high school, you should request a re-evaluation in your junior or senior year. Note: a recent IEP alone is not sufficient documentation of a disability. If you have no documentation, our office can do testing to help you provide the appropriate documentation for UW System requirements; however, we do not have the time or personnel to do complete documentation for students who have not previously been identified as learning disabled. For more information on the UW Oshkosh documentation requirements please contact the Dean of Students office at 424-3100 or visit their web site at the Dean of Students Office of Disabilities web page.
Students accepted to the Project Success program must also apply to UW Oshkosh Admissions office.
