Testing and Placement
Students will be tested during orientation week to determine which of our levels of instruction best meets their needs. Students undergo the TOEFL itp assessment test and the UW Oshkosh English Placement Test. This initial English placement testing examines grammar, vocabulary, speaking, reading, listening, and composition skills. Students will repeat these examinations again at the end of every session (fall semester, spring semester, and summer session) to assess their progress.
Placement for students continuing in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Intensive English Program is determined by student performance and teacher recommendations; decisions regarding placement and advancement within the program are made by program instructors and the program coordinator.
Once placed at an appropriate level, students are expected to attend classes and complete assignments. Those who fail to maintain satisfactory progress may be asked to withdraw from the program.
