What deadlines do I need to know about?
Study Abroad/Away Deadlines

All programs have at least two application deadlines, which often (but not always) fall one week apart.  Some programs have a third application deadline.  Different programs have different deadline dates; both the deadline dates and the STEPS that are due by those dates are listed in the web guide for your program.

  • STEPs I & II of the application process are due by the first date.
  • STEP III is due by the second date.
  • STEP IV, if required for your program, is due by the third date.
Financial Aid Deadline
Applicants who are relying on Financial Aid to cover study abroad/away fees and associated costs should apply for financial aid, following the normal financial aid application process, by the UW Oshkosh Financial Aid Priority Deadline.  Applicants who miss the priority deadline must apply for aid PRIOR TO completing STEP III of the study abroad/away application.  (See "Financial Aid" on the OIE website for detailed information on applying for aid for study abroad/away.)
Applicants applying for summer aid must also complete the Summer Financial Aid application by the Financial Aid Office's summer aid application deadline.
Travel Grant Deadline
Applicants who are relying on the Travel Grant to partially cover study abroad/away fees must apply for financial aid, following the normal financial aid application process, by the UW Oshkosh Financial Aid Priority Deadline and must complete the Travel Grant application as early in the process as possible. Applicants who miss the priority deadline must apply for aid and the Travel Grant PRIOR TO completing STEP III of the study abroad/away application. Travel Grant funds are limited; once they're gone, no additional applications can  be considered. (See "Financial Aid" on the OIE website for detailed information on applying for a Travel Grant.)
Passport Application Deadline
If you are studying outside the U.S. or U.S. protectorates (Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico), you must prove that you've applied for your passport by the STEP III study abroad/away application deadline.  Details on providing evidence of a submitted passport application are available in the web guide for your program.
Visa Application Deadline

A visa is an endorsement or stamp placed by officials of a foreign country into a passport that makes it possible for the bearer to visit that foreign country. In some cases U.S. citizens must apply to a foreign embassy or consulate in the U.S. for a visa in advance of travel. In other cases, the visa is stamped into the passport upon entry into the foreign country.

If a visa is required for your program, the visa application deadline will be listed in the web guide for that program.

Payment Deadlines

All programs require an application fee, due by the STEP II application deadline (see your program web guide for dates for YOUR program).

All programs have two payment deadlines for program fees (see your program web guide for dates for YOUR program).

Some programs have an additional payment deadline for tuition (see your program web guide for dates for YOUR program; not all programs have a tuition fee).
