ESL/Bilingual Education and Spanish language students and teachers focus on the integration of culture into the classroom while studying at the Centro Internacional de Lengua y Cultura (CILC) at the Universidad de las Americas in Cholula, Mexico. No matter what your level of proficiency, this seminar will reinforce your abilities in Spanish language and offer insight into the culture of Mexico.

For the duration of the seminar, your mornings will be carefully divided between intensive Spanish classes planned for all levels, a teaching methodology workshop on proficiency development, and informative conferences about the wealth of Mexican culture which will provide suggestions on how you can incorporate the culture into your lesson plan.

You will spend most afternoons immersing yourself in fascinating workshops, learning about Mexican cuisine, traditional Mexican music, Latin dance and crafts of Mexico and the opportunity to share and help children through a teaching practicum! In addition you will enjoy field trips to nearby attractions.

This rewarding Summer seminar will do more than just increase your level of Spanish, it will truly place you face-to-face with the realities of ancient and modern Mexico!

Universidad de las Americas sits on 175 acres, with facilities including a travel agency, ATM's, medical clinic, pharmacy, beauty shop, post office, computer labs and more. The student population totals approximately 8,000 undergraduates and graduates, including approximately 400 international students.

The city of Cholula is the oldest city on the American continent and is located within site of the volcanoes famous for the folklore attached to them: Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Within Cholula itself stands the great Pyramid of Cholula, perhaps the largest by volume in the world! Click here for a short history of Cholula.

Located only five minutes from Cholula, the city of Puebla sits atop a high plateau in the center of Mexico 70 miles east of Mexico City. This city is well-equipped to handle tourism and is proud to be a leader in commercial and educational facilities
