Join other UW Oshkosh students and faculty in Chennai and New Delhi, India, where you will examine nursing, health and health care in a diverse culture! Visit medical facilities, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Jamia Hamdard Universityand the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust School of Nursing. Meet with health care officials and attend academic sessions on Unani Medicine (alternative medicine).

GAIN PERSPECTIVES on international nursing and discover
how it differs from national and regional activities;

DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING of international health care organizations
and agreements and compare to the United States;

UNDERSTAND THE NEED to analyze economic and non-economic factors
that may influence health and nursing in foreign countries;

control procedures and performance evaluations;

Nursing 418 - Clinical: Family and Community Nursing (3 credits)
Prerequisites: Successful completion of nursing major through Junior II level. Concurrent with or completion of Nursing 416.

Comparative Nursing & Healthcare

Nursing 415 - International Studies in Nursing (3 credits)
Prerequisite: Nursing 315; acceptance into the College of Nursing or registered nursing student

Accommodation & Meals

All accommodation is tentative and will not be confirmed until approximately two weeks before travel.

Chennai (both programs)
Housing facilities at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute can accommodate up to 1600 students on campus. UW Oshkosh students will stay in special suites on campus with an attached bathroom, hot water and air conditioning. All rooms are provided with basic furniture like a desk, table and chair in addition to a cot.

Student Mess (commons) and Dining Facilities
The student mess serves both non vegetarian and vegetarian foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, restaurants are available within the campus.

You must turn in a signed passport valid for 6 months from the date of arrival in the foreign country. It must have at least TWO side-by-side blank pages (in addition to the notes pages). Your passport will be sent to the Consulate, along with your visa application, to apply for a visa.
   
If you have traveled within the last 90 days to any of the countries listed below, you will also need a yellow fever vaccination certificate in order to enter India. A copy of the certificate should be sent in with your visa application as a precaution against visa denial.
