Undergraduate Student Information

 

Thank you for your interest in applying to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh! Please refer to the information below for instructions and application forms for admissionas an undergraduate student. Undergraduate freshmen and transfer students may receive an undergraduate international admission packet by contacting UW Oshkosh International Student Services at iss@uwosh.edu or by calling (920) 424-0775.

Please refer to the following application checklist of documents required for admission:

* Declaration of Financial Resources - Included in application packet. (This must be certified by a bank official or accompanied by a certified letter from the bank, indicating the amount of money (U.S.) available for each of the years you will be attending.)

Tuition and Fees (for two semesters) $13,266.00
Living Expenses, including books and supplies $ 9,456.00
Books, Supplies and Insurance $ 756.00
TOTAL ESTIMATED EXPENSES FOR NINE MONTHS $23,478.00

English Language Testing Requirements:


* An official copy of the Test of English as a Foreign Language Score Report (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 525 on the paper test, 197 on the computer test, or 71 on the internet based test. Please use the UW Oshkosh school code of 1916 when requesting that score reports be sent directly to the University.

*
Official IELTS score report indicating a minimum score of 6.0. "IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations."

OR


*Successfull completion of the English language program at the Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute (WESLI). In most cases, WESLI students applying for admission to UW Oshkosh must score 75 or above on the Michigan Test of English language Proficiency and complete the institute’s 700 level, including academic reading and writing, and academic listening and speaking skills with a rating of “very good” or above.

*For students whose native language is Japanese ONLY: Completion of the STEP/EIKEN test at Level 1 or Pre-1


* US$35.00 Application Fee (applications received on or after September 1, 2008 will be subject to a US$44.00 application fee)

* Official certified transcripts, marks sheets, diplomas and certificates from all secondary schools and/or colleges or universities previously attended. All documents not in English must be accompanied with an official English translation

* Personal Statement

* Transfer In Verification Form for international students who have previously attended or are currently attending a high school or college/university in the U.S.

* Student Health Form

* Copy of passport - photograph and biographic information pages

* Copies of any previously issued U.S. visas

SCHOLARSHIPS and FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh provides a limited number of partial tuition waiver awards which allow students to pay in-state tuition rather than out-of-state tuition. The decision to award the partial tuition waiver is based on financial need and superior academic achievement.

International Student Services bases the decision to award a partial tuition waiver on information provided in the completed "Declaration of Finances" form and academic records. If you are requesting consideration for a partial tuition waiver, you must also complete the partial tuition waiver application when submitting your application for admission.

Value of Partial Tuition Waiver Scholarship: $7,573.00

Estimated Total Cost to Student Receiving Tuition Waiver: $15,905.00

International students who are admitted without being granted the partial tuition waiver are eligible to apply for the waiver at the end of their first term. However, there is no guarantee that an applicant will be granted a partial tuition waiver.

UW Oshkosh International Student Services will issue an I-20 form only after acceptance by the Admissions Office and verification of adequate financial resources as required by federal regulations.

An international student is classified for educational purposes as a person who is a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than the United States. UW Oshkosh is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. ISS also attempts to ensure that the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh complies with all applicable laws set forth by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of State, and other government agencies.
