Although citizens of Canada are not required to obtain a US visa to study in the U.S., they must still pay the SEVIS fee instituted by the US Department of Homeland Security. The SEVIS fee is required of all students and exchange visitors entering the US. You will need to show your DS-2019 form issued by UW Oshkosh AND a receipt showing proof of payment of the SEVIS/I-901 fee at the US port-of-entry. The easiest way to do this is to log on to the web site listed below, pay the US$100.00 fee with a credit card, and print out the receipt. The receipt that you print out will be adequate as proof of payment of the fee.

The procedure for paying the fee online is as follows. Follow these instructions very carefully, as it is important that you present the receipt when you enter the US. Be sure to pay the fee as early as possible as it normally takes about three days for information to be registered into the computer database that is used at the US port-of-entry.

Go to https://www.fmjfee.com/index.jhtml, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'YES'.

On the next page, check 'DS-2019' and click on 'OK'.

Enter your name, date of birth, and SEVIS identification number on the next screen. Your number is located on the upper right-hand corner of your DS-2019 form.

Enter your address.

Fill in the "Exchange Visitor Program Number" for UW Oshkosh. Our number is: P-1-03885 (P-one-zero, 3, 8, 8, 5).

Click on the 'I Accept' button.

Enter your credit card information on the following pages and read the information on how to print out your receipt after you have made payment.
