The objective of the program is to give the participants a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust, as well as the political conditions prevalent in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that ultimately led to it. The program will also concern itself with the politics of the contemporary European Union to examine the impact of the Holocaust on European integration and the resurgence of nationalism across Europe in the wake of the financial crisis of 2008
