Fall Fun Continues…

FALL FEST ON THE FOX
In its eighth year, Fall Fest on the Fox is a community celebration centered around the University's mission to build bridges between people—people from different walks of life, people with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, people with different opinions and viewpoints on life. At the heart of the celebration are people who come together to share one community.

Fall Fest on the Fox has also served as a time for our parents and students to reconnect.  We welcome our parents back to Oshkosh to share time with their students and to explore the many happenings taking place on campus.

FALL FEST EVENTS
To kick off this celebration, we will once again be serving our fabulous Fish Fry on the Fox on Friday, Sept. 19. It's an all-you-care-to-eat buffet featuring beer battered and fried fish, carved tenderloin and a variety of other entrees.  Students on a meal plan dine free and tickets for family and friends are available for only $10/person.

After the fish fry, plan to stroll through Reeve Memorial Union and take in our artist's exhibit in the Gail Floether Steinhilber Gallery. Stop in University Books & More to browse through our collection of books and logo apparel. Mingle with the strolling artists on our concourse.

Join us Saturday morning for a hearty breakfast and meet Chancellor Richard Wells during our annual "Parents Breakfast with the Chancellor." Parents will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Parents and guests will be receiving a mailing in mid-August.

Saturday afternoon will feature the Oshkosh Dragon Boat Race and Festival in downtown Oshkosh. 20 person teams from throughout the area (including many UW Oshkosh student teams) will be racing along the banks of the Fox River in forty foot long canoe-like vessels.  The festival will also feature entertainment, family activities and concessions. For more information on the Dragon Boat Race and Festival, visit www.oshkoshdragonboat.com.

While you are here, make time for the other exciting happenings on campus and in the community. We look forward to your visit!

Rev Up for Homecoming 2008

Saturday, October 18, 2008
homecoming 2008A trip to Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s headquarters in Milwaukee to visit Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Laura Denissen Scherr, ’99, marketing project manager, helped inspire a Harley-Davidson based theme for this year’s Homecoming on Saturday, October 18.

Several UW Oshkosh alumni are employed by Harley-Davidson and many others are HD owners and enthusiasts.

All Harley-Davidson motorcycle owners and enthusiasts are invited to ride in the Homecoming parade or come watch. Of course, all other makes, models, and two-wheelers are welcome including scooters and bicycles.

In true style, this year’s Tent City pre-game celebration will feature plenty of “hog”, BBQ pork that is. A chili cook-off featuring UW Oshkosh administration is also in the works. Live music will be provided by The Bakers, featuring two UW Oshkosh alumni.
