How does one introduce the newest, most distinctive building to our friends, alumni and community? The $21-million, 104,000-square-foot Student Recreation and Wellness Center features options for health and wellness, including a climbing wall, three basketball courts, a free-weight theater, a multipurpose gym for soccer and floor hockey, a walking and jogging track, a cardio center and a Cyber Health Café. The iconic building was constructed to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) “silver” standards and includes an Energy Star-rated roof, rain gardens, low-flow shower heads and sensor faucets, and an automated temperature/humidity monitoring system.
To capture this distinctive building, the image was timed at dusk. The interior lights cast shimmery reflections on the copper façade, while the twilight illuminates the building’s “beak.” The bikes in the foreground show how popular this new facility is with students.
