Cerroni named Titans’ head football coach
Pat Cerroni’s tenure as head football coach at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh began with the 2007 season, but in December, his position became a permanent appointment.
“Eleven months ago, we announced that we would have a nationwide search for our head football coaching position,” said Allen Ackerman, athletic director. “Following the search, we felt that Pat was the most qualified individual to lead our football program.”
As UW Oshkosh’s interim head coach last fall, Cerroni guided the Titans to a 7-3 record and a third-place finish in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). It was UW Oshkosh’s highest finish in the WIAC standings since 1976.
“I’m very humbled about the opportunity to become the 21st person to lead this football program,” Cerroni said. “I want to thank the administration at UW Oshkosh for showing a lot of confidence in me. I also want to thank my coaching staff and players for their contributions this past season.”

In NCAA Division III postseason action, the Titans tallied a 3-2 victory over UW-Platteville before dropping a 3-2 decision to eventual national champion Washington University (Mo.).
The 25-match winning streak was one of notable measure. The streak began with a 3-1 victory over the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Aug. 31 and ended with a 3-0 loss to Juniata College (Pa.) on Oct. 13. At one point during the streak, the Titans won a NCAA Division III-record 57 consecutive games. UW Oshkosh won 110 of its last 133 matches.
Middle blocker Leah Rosenbaum, who received NCAA Division III All-America honors for the third consecutive year, led the Titans during the season. Also, Rosenbaum, libero Samantha Schmidt and right-side hitter Kim Vail earned NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region accolades.

Individually, the Titans received four mentions on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) NCAA Division III All-North Central Region Team. Goalkeeper Derek Christiansen and defender Shaun Gallagher were named to the first team, while defender Alex Minten was selected to the second and midfielder Will Howell to the fourth.
