Small Group/Team Communication (3 credits)
This course explores the structure and dynamics of team and small groups. Topics include effective team problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making and group leadership.

Business and Professional Speaking (3 credits)
Students examine the unique communication problems and practices in business and industry. Through case studies and practical exercises, students improve their abilities to communicate effectively in a variety of working and management experiences.

Speech Communication (3 credits)
Students expand their understanding of the unique workplace communication, including generational and cultural differences and computer-based communication. The course helps each student learn to communicate directly and appropriately, develop listening skills, deliver planned presentations and gain confidence.

Introduces the student to the University and its systems, and presents/reviews basic reading/study skills, writing skill, and math and computer skills necessary to pursue self-directed, life-long learning, as well as college level work.

This course helps students improve their understanding of managing people at work. Topics to be addressed include recruitment, training and education, performance appraisals, reward systems, decision-making, motivation, negotiation, dealing with diversity and human behavior in organizations.

This course explores successful theories and practices of organizational administration. Emphasis is given to understanding the learning organization, communication with internal and external customers, persuasion, critical and empathetic listening, leadership development, systems and strategic thinking. Students develop a working knowledge of operational planning.
Liberal Studies 436
Applied Learning Project (4 credits)
An individually planned applied learning project combines the subjects mastered through coursework with actual workplace environments. The project will be supervised by a University instructor and a workplace mentor and will include a literature review and commentary, original work and a presentation.
