The UW Oshkosh Music Department offers a variety of classes, ensembles, and performance opportunities to both our music majors and our non-music majors alike.  As a prospective student, we would love for you to learn a little more about our classes, our performing ensembles, our world-class faculty, and our state-of-the art facilities.

Admission to UW Oshkosh

The first step to becoming a music major or minor, or simply participating in one of our ensembles is to apply for admission to the university. For more information either follow the link or contact the Office of Admissions, Dempsey Hall, (920) 424-0202.

Admission to the Music Department (Auditions)

Admission to all Music programs (Majors and Minors) requires a successful completion of an Entrance Audition. Please see Audition Information for details about deadlines, procedures, and guidelines.

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships are available for new,  incoming Freshman. To be considered for one of these, a student must successfully complete a Scholarship Audition (which doubles as the Entrance Audition). Please see Scholarship Audition for a complete list of available Music Scholarships.

Degree Programs

Oshkosh offers a number of degree programs including BM in Music Education, BM in Performance, BM in Music Business, BM in Recording Technology, BM in Music Industry (business and recording technology), BA in Music with Composition, BS in Music, and a Music Minor. Ensembles

Our performing ensembles, both vocal and instrumental, are open to both music majors and non-music majors by audition. For more information and a complete list of our ensembles, please see our Ensembles page.

Auditions for ensemble participation are usually held the first week of classes in the fall, and sign-up sheets are usually posted at that time outside the ensemble directors' offices.

Student Employment

On occasion we may have openings for student positions within the department: office workers, music library, and ushers / stage crew.  For more information and to see job availability, please see our Student Employment page.
