Herb Berendsen, Titan Men's Choir

 

Herb Berendsen recently retired after teaching 33 years in the public schools. He taught in Mission, South Dakota, Neenah, Ripon, and most recently for 18 years at Oshkosh West High School.

Since 2010, Herb has directed the 75 voice MacDowell Male Chorus of Appleton, WI, he also directs the Titan Men’s Chorus at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, and has newly been appointed the director of the Oshkosh Chamber Singers, a 70 voice mixed ensemble. Herb also directs the Joliet Choir in the Green Bay Boy Choir Organization.

Herb is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education as well as the American Choral Director’s Association. Through his involvement in these organizations, he has had the opportunity to work with some of the top conductors in the world. For 6 years, Herb chaired the NextDirection project, a vocal music careers conference, which drew students from all over the mid-west.  Herb is also active as an accompanist, clinician, and voice coach.

Herb has been married to his wife Madeline since 1985 and has 3 children: Anna, William, and Madeline Mary, as well as 3 grandkids, Jude and Hazel, and Amos.
