Matthew Miller, Guitar

Miller, MatthewMatthew Miller received an Associate of Arts and Science degree from UW-Marinette, a Bachelor Degree in Music from UW-Whitewater and a Masters Degree in guitar performance from UW-Milwaukee.

As a clinician and educator, Matthew has been a guest theory and masterclass performance teacher at UW-Waukesha and UW-Marinette. He currently teaches guitar at Carthage College in Kenosha, Ripon College, and UW-Oshkosh.

As a researcher, Matt has worked on guitarist sitting positions, adopting the ergonomic principles of the Alexander Technique to conserve energy. Such efforts have produced two books:

Alexander Technique and the Guitar: A companion booklet for developing posture and fundamental foundations for technique. (2007)

Guitar Performance Technique and Science: Understanding our body and mind. (2008)

Matthew has performed for and received instruction with Ricardo Iznaola, Jorge Morel, Jorge Caballero, Sergio and Odair Assad, Lorenzo Micheli, Martha Masters, William Kanengiser, Jerome Ducharme and Goran Krivokapic. He has had the opportunity to analyze masterclasses conducted by David Russell, The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and Jason Vieaux to name a few.
