Quink -- A Cappella Vocal Ensemble
Thursday, February 5, 2009
Quink is a unique ensemble of international reputation. Since its first
concerts in 1978 the group of five professional singers ranks among the
top a cappella ensembles of the world.
Repertoire: Quink’s vast repertoire stretches from the Middle Ages
to Contemporary Music, thus spanning more than 800 years of musical history!
The five versatile musicians always strive to authenticity the way they
perform the different styles of music. For baroque and romantic repertoire
Quink joins forces with instrumental specialists of the relevant era.
Quink realized a series of Bach cantatas with instrumental and vocal one-voice-per-part
perfomances.
With the Dutch piano duo Leo van Doeselaar and Wyneke Jordans Quink released an album with Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.
Dutch music: For many years now Quink acts as an ambassador for new Dutch
music and has performed many successful premieres. In the year 2000 Quink
was asked to sing the world premiere of a piece by the Dutch composer Simeon
ten Holt during a festival in Vredenburg Concert Hall in Utrecht.
Director Ramon Gieling made a short film with the five singers, based upon
this piece. The movie is called “BiBaBo”, with Quink singing
and acting. It was premiered during the Netherlands Film Festival in September
2004 in Utrecht.
