Student Employment and Volunteering

The following types of student employment opportunities are available.

  • Student Assistantships

The Mathematics Department hires several students to tutor students in lower level mathematics courses or assist with office work. Interested students should apply in person at the department office, Swart 115.

  • Graduate Assistantships

A limited number of graduate assistantships are offered to qualified graduate students. Contact Jennifer Szydlik for details.

  • Work Study Programs

A number of students are assigned to the Mathematics Department under this program. These students are assigned to the same jobs as student assistants. Interested students should apply in person at the department office, Swart 115.

  • STEM Outreach Teaching Assistantships

Mathematics Education students who are interested in becoming a TA and teach at summer math camps or weekend events for area school children should apply to be a Math TA with STEM Outreach.

  • Volunteering at Oshkosh Area School District

The Mathematics Department, in conjunction with STEM Outreach, facilitates UWO students volunteering at Oshkosh Area School District in teaching mathematics at Family Math Nights, and the Lighted School House Program.  Click here for more information on Volunteering at OASD.
