Resources and Opportunities

Female Student at Desk

The faculty and staff of the mathematics department are committed to the success of all mathematics students, from developmental mathematics students to mathematics majors and graduate students, and offer many resources and opportunities for students.

We operate two free drop-in tutor labs that are staffed by both graduate and undergraduate students with careful training and oversight provided by department staff. The Math Club is an organization for students interested in mathematics which provides social, scholastic and professional opportunities. We also have an active study abroad program in mathematics education.

The department offers student employment opportunities and awards annual scholarships to outstanding students.

The mathematics department also provides opportunities and professional development programs for elementary, middle and high school mathematics teachers, including the Making Mathematical Connections professional development program, and the Oshkosh Math Circle.

We also host a Mathematics Colloquium Series, featuring talks by department faculty or invited guest speakers on various topics in mathematics and mathematics education. These talks are open to the public.
