Math Major Krista Newell wins 2010 Chancellor's Award for Excellence
The criteria for the award include academic achievement, University-related service and community involvement other than athletics. The award includes a $500 scholarship.
Several of the recipients already have found a job or have made plans for further education.
Krista Newell graduates with majors in economics, mathematics and Spanish. She served as president of the University’s Math/Stats Club, secretary of the Economics Student Association and secretary of the International Student Association. In addition to publishing her research in Oshkosh Scholar, she served as a tutor for the Center for Academic Resources, PreCollege Program and Mathematics Department. She will pursue a doctorate in economics at the University of Oregon.
