GO! (Gals Only) Fire Science Camp
April 4–6, 2014 at the Appleton Fire Department
The 2014 GO! camp is open to past participants of a UWO Fire Science Camp.
This year, we're excited to offer a new format for our GO! camp. Young women, ages 15–20, are invited to spend the weekend at the Appleton Fire Department in Appleton, Wis. Campers will live, eat and work with the firefighters for two nights and three days.
This camp includes:
- Hose and platform evolutions
- Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) refresher
- Live burns and car fires
- Meals with firefighters
- Physical fitness challenges
- Team building and ropes course
Through a combination of instruction and hands-on application, campers will participate in a variety of activities that present a realistic view of fire service careers; be challenged with problem-solving, team-building and leadership development activities; experience college life; and get career and résumé planning assistance.
Meals and Lodging:
Lodging and meals will take place at the Appleton Fire Department. Campers will participate in meal preparation and cleanup alongside the Appleton firefighters. Lodging and meals are all included in the camp fee.
$150 includes lodging, instruction, materials, camp events, camp T-shirt, chaperone supervision, camp insurance, field experiences and meals.
A limited number of partial scholarships may be available. Please download and fill out the scholarship application. If you have questions, contact the Office of Continuing Education and Extension.
