Explore a career in fire and emergency response!

The Fire Science Career Exploration Program is a residential academy experience that provides young men and women with opportunities to explore careers in fire and emergency response services.

Through a combination of instruction and hands-on application, participants will participate in a variety of activities that present a  realistic view of fire service careers; be challenged with problem-solving, team building and leadership development activities; explore college life; and get career and resumé planning assistance.

The program is held on the UW Oshkosh campus with off-campus field experiences at the Appleton Fire Department, Grand Chute Department, Fox Valley Technical College Regional Fire Training Center and Oshkosh Fire Department.

The fire academy are made possible through the generous contributions of the following sponsors:

  • Appleton Fire Department
  • Exploring--Learning for Life Program
  • Fox Valley Technical College Public Safety Training Center
  • Grand Chute Fire Department
  • Oshkosh Fire Department
  • Wisconsin Society of Fire Service Instructors
  • Wisconsin State Firefighters Association
  • Wisconsin State Fire Chief Association
