The academy is held at UW Oshkosh with off-campus training at the Appleton Fire Department, Fox Valley Technical College Public Safety Training Center, the Oshkosh Fire Department and the Grand Chute Fire Department. Check-in is Sunday afternoon, followed by an orientation meeting, dinner and team-building activities. University food service and local fire department personnel provide all meals. Academy participants stay in supervised, double-occupancy, air-conditioned residence hall rooms on the UW Oshkosh campus. (Plan to bring your own towels and toiletries.) If you indicate your roommate choice on the registration form, we will make every effort to comply with your request. Qualified staff and trained chaperones will provide supervision for all participants.

The cost for the Fire Science Academy is $399. The academy fee includes residence hall room, recreational and social activities, daily instruction, materials, special camp events, T-shirt, chaperone supervision, academy insurance, transportation costs associated with field experiences and meals as noted.

All fees are due upon registration. Money that is awarded by scholarship will be refunded to the participant.

Twelve meals – dinner on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday;  breakfast and lunch on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

All participants are housed in the UW Oshkosh Taylor Hall and are supervised by academy chaperones. Leaving the academy early or during the day is strongly discouraged. If you will be parking a vehicle in a campus lot during the week, excluding check-in and checkout, a parking permit is required.
