Brainspotting Phase Two
Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20, 2013 • Appleton
9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday
Phase Two techniques were developed by David Grand. The primary focus of this training is familiarizing clinicians with three new and different ways of utilizing eye position work. The first is Gaze Spotting, the most organic method available for identifying the Brainspot which the body/brain “knows” and “uses” without intervention from the therapist or the “conscious” client.
Currently, Grand and the instructor for this course are experimenting and exploring ways to expand on this beautifully simple way of creating and attending to attunement—the attunement between therapist and client, mindful attunement the client has with themselves, and therapists’ attunement to their own process as they sit with the client.
The second technique that will be taught in Phase Two is Z-Axis/Convergence work. The creative source of Z-Axis work (working on the 3rd dimension, close-far) is Dr. Merrill D. Bowan, an opthamologist in Pittsburgh who, in partnership with a cardiologist, discovered that using eye convergence on the Z-Axis relieved angina and severe anxiety in cardiac patients. Brainspotting incorporates this tool into psychotherapeutic work and is called Z-Axis Brainspotting.
Rolling Brainspotting is the third new tool being taught in this training. In Rolling BSP the movement from Brainspot to Brainspot continues for the entire process until discharge has been accomplished. These tools will enhance and expand your use of Brainspotting using both Inside and Outside Window.
