Social workers are required to have four hours of continuing education in the area of ethics and boundaries every two years to maintain licensure.
Program Description
This 4-hour workshop meets the Wisconsin Department of Regulations and Licensing Continuing Education Requirements for Social Work Ethics and Professional Boundaries. Participants will review the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics including social work values and ethical principles. This interactive workshop will use ethical dilemmas and case examples to illustrate the ethical challenges that social work professionals face in their daily practice. Participants will engage in a discussion of what it means to be a professional and gain the ability to set clear boundaries with clients and colleagues.
Learning Objectives
- Affirm the core values of the social work profession as identified by the National Association of Social Workers and the ethical principles that flow from those values.
- Review all six standards of the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Identify specific dilemmas for social work practice.
- Use examples as illustration to demonstrate the critical thinking process that leads to resolution of difficult ethical dilemmas in social work practice.
- Engage in analysis of ethical issues encountered in participants' social work practice.
