Formal Position Description:
STEP Web Developer Intern for Polk Library, UW Oshkosh

Purpose: Assist the Library Technology Services in developing web applications and other software tools.

Polk Library has recently begun expanding its online services, to provide more of its academic resources through the web and make those resources easier for students and faculty to find and use. Web Developer Interns help to build and maintain the software that provides these new services. Each developer focuses on one project at a time, with significant independence. This position can qualify as an Internship for the Computer Science major.


  • Build, test and maintain web applications and software tools in a variety of programming languages and environments.
  • Work with students, faculty, library staff and others to gather project requirements and specify functionality.
  • Determine the effectiveness of software projects through usability testing and other research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • CS Major in progress or other equivalent programming experience.
  • Experience with programming in at least one language. PHP, Java or Python preferred.
  • Experience building web pages with HTML, preferably using CSS and Javascript.

Wage: $10.50 per hour for 8-10 hours per week.
