Sara L. Stichert
Bachelor of Science in Library Science/minor in Geography from UW Oshkosh in 1980.
I have worked in many areas of the library and other areas on campus, since October, 1985. Areas worked in Polk Library include: Bindery, Cataloging, Circulation, Reserves, Interlibrary Loan. I have also worked in Polk and Clow Audiovisual Services. I was in charge of the Music Department Library and the Art Department Slide Library, both at the same time, when I was nominated for and received the Outstanding Performance Award in 2008.
I transferred back to my library "home" on campus in June of 2010 to take the position of Coordinator of Interlibrary Loan.
In the past, I have served on the Classified Staff Advisory Council and have been on the Classified Staff Awards Committee (both as a member and as the chair). I also have served as the secretary of AFSCME Local 579 for too many years to count.
I have also been involved in the wider library community. I served as the chair of the Support Staff Section of Wisconsin Library Association, and as the secretary of the Support Staff Interests Roundtable of the American Library Association.
I have been involved with the Oshkosh community for quite a few years now. I served as a Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer and worked as a pollworker in the City of Oshkosh. I have been extremely involved in local/state politics in the last 10 years, volunteering and helping on campaigns. I am involved in a knitting group in Oshkosh whose members had dwindled to only 3. Through my efforts of advertising, the group now numbers more than 30 members. I am also involved in my church, Most Blessed Sacrament, in Oshkosh. I currently serve as an usher there and as a seasonal member of the committee that decorates the church for holidays. In the past I have been the chair of the Worship Committee and I also currently write "Prayers of the Faithful".
My personal philosophy is if you are going to complain about something, what responsibility are you going to take to try and make it better?
