Patrick J. Wilkinson
I earned a B.A. and M.A. in American History from Drake University. Later I received a Masters of Library Science (M.L.S.) from Indiana University.
In 1996 I began my tenure at Polk Library and became Library Director in 2001. Previously, I was a librarian at Murray State University, the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Vermont. My goal for Polk Library is that it enables students, faculty and staff to succeed in their academic pursuits. Also, I want the library to provide the highest quality services, collections and learning environments. For the past decade, I have held leadership roles in the Global Council of the Online Computer and Library Center. OCLC is the world's largest library cooperative and has over 25,900 member libraries and cultural institutions in 170 countries.
In my time at UW Oshkosh, I have served on many campus-wide groups such as the Reeve Advisory Council and the Gender Equity Council. Currently, I am chairing a campus group to implement a campus Intranet. Within UW System, I am an active member of the Council of the University of Wisconsin Libraries. I also serve as the Board Chair for Wisconsin Interlibrary Services (WiLS).
