Patrick J. Wilkinson
I earned a B.A. and M.A. in American History from Drake University. Later I received a Masters of Library Science (M.L.S.) from Indiana University.
In 1996 I began my tenure at Polk Library and became Library Director in 2001. Previously, I was a librarian at Murray State University, the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Vermont. The library staff and I want to help students, faculty and staff to succeed in their academic pursuits. We try to provide the highest quality services, collections and learning environments possible. When we do not succeed, please let me know.
While at UW Oshkosh, I have served on many campus-wide groups such as the Reeve Advisory Council and the Gender Equity Council. I have chaired important university task forces and campus-wide search and screen committees. Within UW System, I am an active member of the Council of the University of Wisconsin Libraries. Beyond campus and UW System, I have held leadership positions in state, national and international library organizations such as the Wisconsin Interlibrary Services (WiLS) and the worlds largest library cooperative, the Online Computer and Library Center (OCLC). My goal is to help the library community cooperate so each library can better serve its patrons.
