Library Instruction

Our Polk librarians are happy to offer instruction on a variety of information literacy topics.  Some examples of course content:

• How to search using databases
• Finding keywords for your topic
• Narrowing research topics
• Citing Sources

We can provide a general walkthrough of our resources, or more targeted instruction for specific assignments.  

We offer library instruction in several forms to meet the needs of you and your students:

• On-Campus Visit

• We are always happy to welcome you to campus.  We can offer instruction with or without a library tour.  If you plan to come to campus, please contact the CAPP office as well.  The CAPP office can also help you arrange to visit other places of interest on campus.  
• We can schedule these visits anytime on weekdays between 8am and 4:30pm (depending on librarian availability).
• Please schedule these two to three weeks before your requested visit date.  

• Off-Campus (Visiting your school)

• Depending on your location and the weather, we may be able to visit your campus to provide instruction.
• We can schedule these visits anytime on weekdays between 8am and 4:30pm (depending on librarian availability).
• Please schedule these two to three weeks before your requested visit date.

• Live webinars

• We can conduct a live webinar using Collaborate Ultra, Google Hangouts, or Skype. Length and content can be tailored to your needs.
• We can schedule these visits anytime on weekdays between 8am and 4:30pm (depending on librarian availability).
• Please schedule these one to two weeks before your requested visit date.

• Custom tutorials

• We can create assignment-specific video or text tutorials to help your students find and use library resources.
• We will send you a link to these that you may access as many times as you need at any time of the day.
• These generally take one to two weeks to put together.  Please plan accordingly.
