Borrowing

Borrowing Procedure

Borrowers should bring materials to be checked out to the Circulation Desk. University of Wisconsin System students and staff must present a current, valid university ID to check out library materials. If you are not registered with UW-Oshkosh or a UW System library, inquire at the Circulation Desk for privileges.

All checked out items are subject to recalls.  The borrowing patron will be notified of the recall and their new due date.  Once a recalled item becomes overdue, library privileges are suspended until the recalled item is returned.

Renewing Library Materials

Most items may be renewed online in by Signing into Search@UW or brought to the Circulation Desk to be renewed.

Items not eligible for renewal:

Some items, such as equipment and reserves are not renewable.  Items that have been requested by other patrons are not renewable.  Items borrowed from other UW System libraries that have reached the maximum loan length are not renewable.

In-person renewals:

Items borrowed from a UW Oshkosh Library that have reached the maximum loan length are not renewable online and must be brought to the Circulation Desk and renewed in-person.  We will reset the loan length limit for items brought to the Circulation Desk by checking them in and immediately back out to you.  Items borrowed from other UW System libraries are not eligible for loan length extensions and must be returned.

Items that have been marked as lost by our circulation system are not renewable online and must be brought to the Circulation Desk to be renewed in-person.

Returning Library Materials

Items may be returned at the Circulation Desk, or they can be put in the outside library material return boxes. Please be considerate when returning fragile or oversized items.  All University of Wisconsin - System library items can be returned to any of the 26 University of Wisconsin-System libraries.
