Chronicle: Chafing at Higher E-Book Prices
The Chronicle of Higher Education has a recent article about a major change in pricing structures of ebooks; another chapter in the contentious relationship between libraries and academic publishers. Polk Library uses a subscription arrangement with Ebrary, not the "demand driven" approach described in the article and subject to the large price increases. Still, Polk Library staff are always mindful of changes in the market and how these can affect the value the library can bring to our patrons.
