New Archives Exhibits

Over the last week, UW Oshkosh has been host to a number of events focusing on the lives of veterans.  As part of that series, the University Archives is happy to announce the release of two new UW Oshkosh history exhibits that highlight UW Oshkosh’s role with veterans and the military.  The exhibits are the product of months of effort by UW Oshkosh History Department intern, Kyle Moerchen.

The first exhibit, Serving Those Who Served: Veterans at UW Oshkosh from WWI to Vietnam, tells the story of the changing ways UW Oshkosh and its predecessor institutions have assisted veterans with their reintegration into civilian society.

The second exhibit, the 400 of the 96th: Military Training on Algoma Blvd. shares the fascinating history of the short-lived 96th College Detachment, a unit of the Army Air Corps that operated at Oshkosh State Teachers College during WWII.  This exhibit is an expansion on a previous published exhibit.

Both exhibits are powered by Omeka, the content management and exhibit software developed by George Mason University.  Other exhibits on UW Oshkosh's history can be found at:
