Evaluating Websites
  • Who wrote the content and what are his/her credentials?
    Does the author provide contact information?
    Authors can be an organization or government agency
    Know the difference between an author and a webmster.
  • What is contained in the site and is it complete?
    Is it an abstract or a complete article?
    Does it require payment for additional information?
  • Where is the site located?
    What is its domain or sponsor?

  • When was it last updated?
    Does it have a copyright date?
    Are the links updated?
    Is the page automatically updated?
  • Why was it published?
    To inform/To sell/To persuade
    Try to locate a page's "mission statement" or "about us"
  • How easy is the main site to navigate and use
    Is the site well organized
    Does it have a lot of advertising pop-ups
    Is it easy to understand and use
