Videos & Sound Recordings
Polk Library has access to videos and sound recordings, both online and in the library.
Accessing online (streaming) videos
Click on the links below to access Polk Library's collections of online videos, viewable directly from your computer. See below the link for a brief description of the subjects covered in each collection.
This database provides immediate access to a broad array of educational videos spanning a variety of subjects, from anthropology and business to biology, medicine, political science, and more.
Journal of Visualized Experiments
A peer-reviewed journal devoted to visually capturing research primarily in the life sciences, the Journal of Visualized Experiments strives to provide better transparency and understanding to the techniques and reproduction of these complex experiments. Please note that Polk Library subscribes to the "General" and "Neuroscience" sections of this database.
Accessing DVDs, Blu-ray, and VHS available in Polk Library
Using the "Books & Videos" tab on the homepage of the library website, enter in the search term or phrase that best describes the resources for which you are looking, and select the "Videos & DVDs only" option (highlighted in red) to limit your search to DVD, Blu-ray, and VHS materials. Click "Find".

You will now be taken to the catalog results screen, where your search term(s) will be highlighted in yellow. Click on a link to view the record of the item. Please note that when obtaining a DVD, Blu-ray, or VHS item from Polk Library it will be located in the Educational Materials collection, on the 1st Floor, North wing of the library.

Accessing sound recordings available in Polk Library
Using the "Books & Videos" tab on the homepage of the library website, enter in the search term or phrase that best describes the resources for which you are looking, and select the "Sound recordings only" option (highlighted in red) to limit your search to CDs. Click "Find".

Again, you will be taken to the catalog results screen, where your search term(s) will be highlighted in yellow. Click on a link to view the record of the item. Please note that when obtaining a CD from Polk Library it will be located in the Educational Materials collection, on the 1st Floor, North wing of the library.
Please note:
- Students of UW-Oshkosh have borrowing privileges for DVDs, Blu-ray, VHS, and CDs. If you are a community patron and/or an alumni of UW-Oshkosh, you will have access to these materials in-house only via your NEWEra card.
- The area for in-house use for VCRs, DVD and CD players is located in the 1st floor North wing of Polk, headphones are available for check-out.
