Using Search@UW to find books in Polk Library
From the library homepage, you can use the "Articles, Books & More" tab to search for books, DVDs, journals, and other items located in Polk Library. Make sure to change the dropdown menu from "Everything" to "Books & Media (UW Oshkosh)" (highlighted in red). Enter in your search term(s), then click the "Search" button to perform your search:
Search@UW will return all results which contain your search term. Make sure to record the location and the call number of the book before going to look for the item (highlighted in red)! If you need help reading the call number, don't forget you can always ask a librarian, or check out our guide here.
If a book is also available as an eBook, the text "Online access" will appear. Note: make sure to check the "Locations" tab to determine if the eBook is available through UW Oshkosh; by default, Search@UW displays all eBooks from across the UW System, regardless of whether or not Polk Library has access to it!
Click on the "Details" tab to view the item's full record. In the item's record you'll find additional helpful information such as the chapters or sections of a book, any notes about the item, and the subject headings under which the item was inputted. Clicking on the Subjects (highlighted in red) often yield additional results which will be related to the item at which you're looking:
