Embedding Streaming Video in D2L

To embed films from our streaming video services into your D2L courses, copy the embed code from the database using the instructions below. Then use the "Insert Stuff" tool in D2L to add the embed code to a content page, discussion board post or dropbox.

Locating Streaming Video Embed Codes

If you need assistance finding a code, or wish to embed a playlist, contact our Online Learning Librarians at onlinelibrary@uwosh.edu for assistance.

 

Polk Library's Streaming Video Page

Click on the film you want to embed. To the right of the video, note the Database where the video appears and click the Direct Link to go to the title in the database. Then, follow the instructions below to find and copy the embed code in that database.

Films on Demand

Find the full video or segment you want to embed. Under the video player, click Embed/Link. Choose the Embed Size (small or medium recommended for easiest viewing in Canvas). Then, click the Copy button next to the Embed Code to copy the embed code to your clipboard. Paste the code into the Insert/Edit Media tool in D2L.

Alexander Street

Find the video you wish to embed. Under the video player, click Embed/Link. Then, click the Copy link under Embed Code to copy the embed code to your clipboard. Paste the code into the Insert/Edit Media tool in D2L.

Kanopy

Find the video you wish to embed. Under the video player, click Share. Then, click the Embed tab. Next, highlight the embed code, then right click + Copy or Ctrl+C to copy the embed code to your clipboard. Paste the code into the Insert/Edit Media tool in D2L.
