Harvey Milk was not a person who let discrimination or inequality determine his life. Instead, he decided to dedicate his life to create a climate of inclusivity and equality. As the first openly gay person elected to a substantial political office, Harvey Milk challenged the homophobic and heterosexist climate that surrounded him. Harvey Milk was a hero. The Harvey Milk Commemorative Dinner, held at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, honors the courage and spirit of Harvey Milk. This event is a way to encourage and support all members and allies of the LGBTQ Community at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the Greater Fox Valley. Our goal is to raise awareness and provide scholarships for LGBTQ students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and LGBTQ seniors in the Greater Fox Valley.
In order to qualify, you must be either: A student at UW Oshkosh who identifies as LGBTQ and is in good academic standing, with at least one semester remaining before graduation OR a Fox Valley High School senior who identifies as LGBTQ and has been accepted to an institution of higher education.
