Athletic Training Club

Students who are admitted into the Athletic Training major are encouraged to become involved in the student organization. There are dues associated with the Athletic Training Club (currently $5/year) which are used to plan social and community service events.

About the Athletic Training Club

The Athletic Training Club is an association supplemental to the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) here at UW – Oshkosh. Our purpose is to bring the student body of the program together and promote the profession of Athletic Training while helping out the community. The officers this year consist of seniors Mike Piazza and Evan Schmidt, and juniors Aimee Ostrander and Nicole Reith.

At the Wisconsin Athletic Trainer’s Association (WATA) state symposium last April, Dalton Venden, Steve Klein, Mike Piazza and Evan Schmidt managed to take first place while representing UW Oshkosh at the state Quiz Bowl. The Quiz Bowl is a trivia contest in the form of “Athletic Training Jeopardy” in which every Athletic Training Education Program in the state is represented by a team of four. The team clinched the win with the final question “What is the term for the rapid expansion and contraction of microscopic gas bubbles surrounding the tissues during a therapeutic ultrasound treatment?” in which they answered “Unstable Cavitation.” This spring, the team will progress to the regional level and compete against the winners of five other states in GLATA at our Winter Symposium.

Every year, March is designated as NATM with a goal of promoting our profession to a wider audience, and the theme for March 2013 is “Every Body Needs an Athletic Trainer.”

Kinesiology Club

Students who are interested in Kinesiology related subdisciplines are invited to become members of the Kinesiology club.  It is easy to do through orgsync.com and it is FREE.

About the Kinesiology Club

The Kinesiology Club is a student-run club here on campus made up of students from all three emphases of the major - Exercise and Fitness, Strength and Conditioning, and Healthcare Science. The goal of the club is to promote a healthy lifestyle on campus as well as within the community in order to better the physical health and quality of life of everyone from the skilled athletes to the average individual. The club's members can be found at bi-weekly meetings where we host guest speakers from various professions, demo new styles of exercise, and simply get to know our peers. Members can also volunteer for local organizations/businesses, participate on teams for activities like run/walks, and attend club parties. All of the club's activities are overseen by Dr. Dan Schmidt, club advisor and instructor on campus.

It is never too late to become a member!! The Kinesiology Club invites all students, faculty, and alumni to join in and participate! And it’s FREE! Join us on Facebook (UW-Oshkosh Kinesiology Club) or on Titan Link!!
